Opinions, please. I've seen people planting small flowering plants around the base of containerized citrus trees. Heard the flowers are a good barometer for determining when to water. Does this rob them of essential nutrients, essential space around top roots, interfere with aeration, or do the flowers deposit anything undesirable into the soil? My Imp. Meyer, Satsuma, and Calamondin trees have NOT been potted in containers any larger than what they need at the moment.
