loving my meyer lemon!

I got her for Christmas a year ago and she had one flower last winter that was turning into a lemon. Put her out in spring and left out a little to long and the lemon fell off. Lots of new growth and had over fifty blooms on it this year!!
Had to clip them though because I started seeing some stickiness on the leaves and think I started getting scale.
Started applying neem oil and am not sure how often/duration I should spray for.
There is currently seven flowers and one small lemon. Is it safe to leave these on while spraying?
Think im going to get a orange tree next. Love citrus.
