Buyer Beware Bearss Lime(Persian Lime)

I had a Bearss Lime treewhich had amazing productivity, great tasting, long hanging, and seedless fruit. It is the perfect lime. However, it has a fatal flaw. The tree is affected by a genetic disorder called wood pocket. There is no treatment, if your tree has budwood that carries the genetic disorder it is doomed. My lime tree was about 5-6 years old when half of the tree died and the trunk started sinking in and the bark flaking off. I pulled it about 1.5 years without knowing why it was dying. Looking through the UCR citrus website I came a cross bearss lime description mentioning Wood pocket. Not much on the net about the genetic disorder and i think it is a shame that retailers don't tell customers that Wood Pocket is a possibility when buying a bearss lime. For my money I guess i will plant a mexican lime.
