If you plan to plant those in the ground, the fruit should come off to allow the tree to grow to a size where it can better resist a freeze.

Does Houston freeze? Been there many times, never encountered a freeze! Houston is probably zone 9b and all should be good!

Yes, the Houston area freezes every once in a while, was in the 20s for a few days this winter but that is unusual. The trees have already been planted in the ground. I'm sure I will think of something next year to help them out if there is a hard freeze for a couple of days but that is unusual.
I actually live slightly south of Houston, Desertdance thank you for the link, it tells me I am in zone 9A
