Beach bums Satsuma makes an excellent container plant. I have one don't know the variety the tag says Satsuma and there must be 40 different varieties of Satsuma. Mine is in a pot and does it produce. It can be alternate bearing. Some years 30 fruit some years 10. They are also delicious. Very nice looking tree leaves are very dark green a handsome container plant The fruit don't need a lot of heat to ripen them. Did any part of your tree you planted in the ground survive.?

Orangelime, some of the thicker branches are still green but seem to be drying out. I don't know if anything above the graft will survive. The rootstock should be fine so I was thinking if I bought another Satsuma I could graft a bud to the old rootstock and have a nice container tree to boot. I'm glad to hear your container Satsuma is happy and a good producer!

Beach bums did you try throwing a plastic sheet over the tree? With the sun's strength at this time of year it would really heat up under the plastic sheet and maybe force some new growth on your tree. Sun and heat anything is possible. I would anchor the plastic down with a few bricks for the wind.

I'll try that, but I'm afraid the soil temp is too low to support any new growth right now. Low temps for the next 10 days are supposed to be above freezing, so maybe spring is around the corner.

If it not to hard to do I would try it . It would make a cool experiment. You never know if there is still green in the branches. I just hope the ground isn't frozen . Your idea is a good idea it would be fun to try the budding again as long as the cold ground did not kill the root stock.
