What are using this potting mix for? Sounds great for plants that need to drain quickly and not stay wet like Jades or Succulents/Cactus...but if you're planning on using it for Citrus you may want to add a little something to help retain moisture? Just my humble opinion...I personally love using Fir Bark or Pine Bark/Orchid Bar in all my mixes, maybe others can comment on your mix...

Orchid mix has soil in it mixed with bark so far the two trees seam to like it.

About 2 to 3 days it dries water drains right threw it.

Tcamp...The KEY here is to make sure after just a few weeks that the mix still does a good job, holds it structure, does not stay wet at the bottom while the top dries, dries out evenly, does not hold disolved salts, and does not suffocate the roots ...

If you use to many smaller particles, or use big and large where the smaller falls to the bottom, you can run into serious trouble before the end of a season....

Even a fresh bag of the worst potting soil drains well at that start.So please keep a close eye on your mix...I wouldn't use it, but if it works for you, that's awesome..

Porch is doing good had to bring them in when it got super cold like 0 but held up well. You know me I always experiment with everything. Trying to root Gold nugget Mandarin now so we will see how that goes. I made a mix close to this one now that plants are in now they do well. Its just to cold winter is killing me most of my trees are dormant now showing no to little growth. When spring gets here they will take off. The new mix almost seams to drain to fast and to well will keep and Eye on it Mike thanks for heads up.
