Phytophthora?

I have this really old navel tree which I suspect has had phytophthora for years, but has always so far out grown it and stayed alive. When we first moved in, my husband realized the sprinklers were hitting the trunk and so he adjusted them so they didn't. Next year I'm going to remove the grass and just put down mulch, less to mow.

My question is; would Agrifos treatments still help a tree this old? or should I just let nature take it's course and enjoy it as long as it lasts. It has lived with this for at least 15 years so far, but it could be a 40-50 year old tree now, and has had lawn under it since the late 1970's. I'm unsure of what to do, if anything at this point. It still give us tons of nice fruit, but I feel bad that it has this condition.
