Shoot, if that's 8 months old, I think it's evidence that you've been doing something right...and during the most difficult time of year, too.

The growth looks new and tender, and often the morning sun or warmth will cause this. Wind will cause this as well. Don't be tempted to overwater. The growth will eventually harden with time.

Thanks for the response. I did not do anything special. Miracle gro potting soil and miracle gro all purpose plant food. That's all I use. Now back to the question, it is interesting to know that morning sun can be the reason. Do you know under what mechanism the morning sun causes this? I tried to search but did not get any results.

Yes, it's mere temperature...or warmth. The pliant new growth is tender and so, like most things, it bends when warm. That's part of it. The other aspect is that warm sun strikes the leaves before the root-zone has warmed up and so the plant isn't effectively drawing moisture up from the roots yet.

I would advise a more porous mix for citrus. Miracle Grow will compact and lead to lack of oxygen in the root-zone eventually. I'd re-pot as soon as the current new growth has become stiff (and before the next flush of growth commences).

As always, whenever you suspect something amiss or unusual, closely inspect your plants for signs of pest.

You are so right Josh. I tested today and it's indeed the morning sun that causes the leaves to loose its water and curl down. The explanation that the roots are not warmed up fast enough makes sense. I will try the mix people suggest on this forum when I report it.
