We have a blood orange tree in our yard that hardly grows fruit (the tree was there when we bought the house a few years ago). Underneath the tree, there is a thick, dense growth of fortnight lilies -- they grow like weed! I've started to pull them up, which is a HUGE task. I don't know much about citrus trees. Can somebody tell me if it's possible that the tree will produce fruit once we clear out the flowers underneath (fortnight lilies are VERY hard to pull up - - they really root in there and I suspect they are robbing the tree of nutrients).
