We are in Southwest Florida, zone 9b. We recently removed our ruby red grapefruit tree. It was well over 15 years old and had for many years produced wonderful sweet fruit, but the two last years it seemed to come to the end of its life span.

We'd like to replace it with a small tree, not over 25' feet,. We travel quite a bit in the summer months, and won't be able to care properly for it, so we would like one that produces sometime between October and April. We'd like a sweet fruit or even a fig, but can't seem to find a tree that meets the above specs. Lacking that, we'll have to choose a flowering tree/shrub, because we need it to provide a privacy screen between our pool and the neighbors.
