I just found out that the top of the trunk is brittle so I guess she is dying. Is it over or can she be helped?

There are sseveral mikes so me being one of them I'll give this a shot. If any part of the tree is dry and brittle then that part is probably a goner. We use a trick to determine what parts are still alive. Scrap a small piece of bark with your fingernail. If you see green that point is still alive. If its brown its probably dead.

Can the brown part come back if the tree is fertilized?.

No. Once it dries and turns brown it is done

Thanks mike. I guess that it will travel and the tree is dead right?

no not necessarily is the whole tree is dying. Just start cutting back until you get to healthy wood. It very well could back bud from that point.
