Bitter orange saplings die rapidly

When they are maybe 1-2-3 weeks old they just die. Really, just they tip over their leaves and die. The top two just turn over. I have a habit of over watering, could that be it? Mushrooms also grow up about 1-2 times a week. How can I kill them? I think the mushrooms are the culprit. Help!

Tell us about your potting soil.....what's in it? The types of mushrooms that grow on potting soil don't kill plants, but may be a sign that overwatering might be a problem. The mushrooms can simply be pulled out and thrown away. Again, what kind of potting medium are you using and how did it become contaminated with the fungi?

I'm using potting soil. Moisture retaining potting soil. Gnats have also been a problem, but I put it outside and that solved it. The mushrooms started appearing inside...so I'm not sure how that got there.

A chronic overwaterer does not need a moisture retaining potting mix, lol. You need to find or make a very coarse textured, fast draining medium which will allow you some leeway in watering.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that my dogs dug it up about 5 times. Could that have killed it, too?
