Birds are eating my kumquats

I have birds eating the ripe kumquats. They have never bothered any other citrus until now. Any one else experienced this. I am probably going to move it into my greenhouse frame that has bird netting unless anyone else has some great idea (have tried the shiny object route already

An old CD, suspended with wire, keeps bluejays out of my stawberries. One keeps circling and even squawks at it (funny to watch) but they keep their distance!
