Unlikely you overfed your lime tree, growsunshine. How much sun does this lime tree receive? How is the tree watered, does it every get hit by sprinklers? Where are you in California, close to the coast or further inland? N. or S. Calif?? Your spots look like something fungal to me. I would watch to see if more leaves are affected. If so, please send more photos, both full photos of the entire tree, as well as some close up photos. You can always try to spray the leaves top and bottom with a fungicide, and see if that clears things up. Check the bottom of the leaves to make sure you don't have any bugs or other issues going on, on the underside of the leaves, that are causing this appearance on the top of the leaves.

It looks a little like "greasy spot", which is usually the result of poor orchard floor sanitation (notice the leaves under the tree) and humid conditions.

We just don't have Greasy Spot here in S. California, John, even at the coast. Just not the right humidity/temp combo. More of a Florida/Gulf Coast disease. But, we have plenty of other fungal things here that love to grow in our cooler temps with coastal humidity. Usually citrus are not affected, BUT if this tree is getting splashed from sprinklers, splashing up dirty water onto the leaves, then it could happen. Hopefully growsunshine will give us more info, so we can help them out a bit more.
