Yeah, other forum is best. But in short it's just like with citrus: not enough water being absorbed by the roots to supply the given amount of foliage. This could be under-watering or root-loss damage from transplant or over-watering (soggy roots). Let the other forum know if any environmental factors have changed (swings in temp or large amounts of sunlight now vs. before).

Gently dig around the soil in various spots to determine if the soil is moist below the surface vs. just looking wet on top when you water. This can and does happen when the soil dries out too much and becomes hydrophobic and won't re-wet again very easily despite heavy watering.

Why is this tree in the house? Pome and stone fruits are not suitable as indoor plants. At all. You definitely will want to post over on the Fruits & Orchards forum. Move your tree outside. Plant in the ground if possible. If not, and you must grow in a container, mention that, and ask for assistance in container grown pome and stone fruits in your zone.

In a comment you made on Dec 17, 2010, you mentioned needing to add Turface to the potting mix in zones 8 and above. I have been searching for info about modifying the 5-1-1 mix for the Miami area, 10b. I’m trying to find out how much I need to add to my mix. Also, do I still need to add lime? You are 100% correct about needing to water more often in the warmer zones, unless something is added to the 5-1-1 mix
