I was also worried about moisture right when you said it in your video. I've only had ants get under the application once out of a couple dozen applications. They started "resting" there and eventually found their way though.

I usually slop on a lot more, too. Man that stuff will stay sticking for years if you won't remove it (you probably should every season anyway).

Remember, it's not the ants that do damage. It is the aphids they're after to farm that do damage. Ants just keep the aphids going. I would make sure the wrap is up a little higher, away from the soil (and any water), and watch to make sure that the ants don't eventually make a "bridge", using their comrades' dead bodies stuck to the Tanglefoot to march across. They will do that if there is reason to get up into the tree (i.e., aphids), so control for aphids as well, and you'll have less ants. They do like to set up housekeeping in containers, so some Boric acid ant traps in your containers is also a good idea.
