Your tree looks thirsty. It might need a good soaking.

No it does not need water. I watered recently and the soil is still moderately damp under the bark mulch i use. It is just one dying branch on an otherwise healthy looking tree loaded with fruit.

Examine the length of that branch for evidence of damage - mechanical, pest, et cetera.

Thanks josh. No there is no mechanical or pest damage. This happened really suddenly because it wasn't there yesterday when i picked some limes off this tree for cooking.

I couldn't get a good picture of the interior of the bark were the cut was made but there is a little brown discoloration on a portion of the bark interior. I remember a previous post where an individual warned about some kind of internal bark rot condition specific to Bearrs. I going to look for that post.
