looks just like my tree. I have a seed grown meiwa kumquat tree. both the meiwa kumquat and the meyer lemon trees have special needs over other citrus. they are however different from one another. I used roofing nails soaked in vinegar to chelate the iron and zinc the meiwa tree uses. I don't know what your tree need but I would say is micronutrients. See pics of my tree.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Funny, I remember over hearing someone suggesting that for something a few years ago but I think they said to use rusted nails?

dourbest, your tree simply needs to be fertilized. Forget the nails. Just use a good citrus fertilizer. Most folks here that do container citrus use Dyna Gro Foliage Pro. Use 1/2 tsp. per gallon with every watering. Don't worry about the dried up fruit, it will drop off. Once your tree has recovered, and has more leaves, it will be able to support fruit development. Make sure it's getting plenty of sunshine, and is potted in a large enough pot, in very well draining potting media. You can search this forum for "511 mix" or "gritty mix" for good home made recipes.
