Is it OK to cut off Lime tree thorns?

Hi,

I have a Persian lime tree about 4-5 years old and last year it we had a pretty bad wind storm. The thorns cut up some of the leaves pretty bad and I was wondering if trimming the thorns would be OK for the plant. Any input would be appreciated.

I have a ponderosa lemon with nasty thorns. Moving it out of the greenhouse is like wrestling a roll of barbed wire. I often cut the thorns and it never seems to hurt the tree.

It's tedious work but it won't hurt them.
