Citrus lost all it's leaves

Hi!

I have planted a grapefruit tree from a grapefruit seed some 15 years ago. The tree is in a 2 feet wide clay pot. It never bloomed or made any fruits since I live in zone 5b, but it grew up to some 7 feet.

A year ago, I changed the soil in it's container for a 5-1-1 mix of cedar bark (could not find any pine), peat and Miracle Grow Expand & Grow (basically coconut shell). I got it out for summer and it poured like hell during all the season.

As a result, the leaves started turning yellow and all fell. Since then, I have not seen any kind of grow back apart from a tiny tiny leaf. 3 weeks ago, I replaced part of the top soil for worm compost.

As you can guess, this tree means quite a lot to me. Do any of you have advices? It is currently in my kitchen where it has strong indirect light for about 13 hours a day. Obviously, the tree is still alive.

How much water should I give it? I currently wait for the first inch to be dryish. Should I cut every twigs that turned partially brown?

Yours,
