Well, photos would help. Citrus prefer to be outside as much as possible, and if your weather permits, year 'round. Too much water (as in watering daily) if in poorly draining soil will spell certain death. I would post up photos of your tree, and we can then tell you if the tree is salvageable.

The soil drains well. I have a plate under it, but I dont let it sit in the standing wster. I dump it out. The dryness of the branches is really deceiving which is why I continue to water it. Could it benefit from some fertilizer? Thanks for the help! Photo attached...

Oh boy. First off, let it stay outside. It is just a twig right now, and I cannot tell if it is dying from the roots upward. I see the branch/trunk is still green at the top, but cannot tell if you have a viable trunk below. You need to fertilize container citrus regularly. Most container folks here on the forum fertilize with Dyna Pro's Foliage Pro with every watering. Check the roots to make sure they are not dead or root bound. If they're root bound, pot up into a larger pot, and use a well draining potting mix or potting mix recipe (you can search the forum for "511" or "gritty mix" for both recipes). Sun, fertilizer and the right amount of water will be what will save this little tree if it is savable.
