Any way to reverse root rot in dwarf lemon tree?

In the spring, I moved a dwarf lemon tree that had been in a container and planted it in the ground. Since then, I must have really overwatered it. :( I thought initially it was suffering from the heat and didn't catch onto the signs of root rot. Most of the leaves have fallen off now. Is there any way I can save it? TIA!

Well, it depends, Alicia. If you're on clay, and you did not plant the tree on a mound, the tree will continually have drainage issues and it will eventually spell the demise of your tree. You also do not say where you live, that would make a difference in our advice to you, so let us know where you are (I don't see a zone or locatoin in your "Zone" section of GW, see my profile to see what I'm talking about). If you're not on clay, and you have planted the tree properly - not too deep - backing off of water, and allowing the tree's roots to recover may save the plant. Otherwise, digging it up and putting in a container with either 511 mix or a modified version of 511 may be the only way to save the plant. If you can provide us more info - soil type, where you live and some photos of your tree and the planting area - we can better advise you.
