Full StorySo about 5 months ago my Mom was given what she was told is a rare orange tree from Israel. The man was starting the trees from seed.
I did some research and all I can figure is its a Jaffa a.k.a Shamouti orange.
Can someone confirm this for me?
I am having a hard time finding decent info about this type of orange. I have no idea how to care for it, how big it will get, or know when to expect it to begin producing fruit. It is growing so I can't be messing up too much.
Also, I just read this "The Shamouti orange is almost seedless. In fact, a Shamouti seed will yield a "baladi" tree that produces a round, seedy cousin [...] The only way to grow new Shamoutis is by properly grafting Shamouti branches onto the trunk of another tree."
Is that true? If so, how do I care for a "baladi" tree, if I even want to?
