My advice would be to choose another cultivar for your espalier. Pomelos in general, and the Chandler in particular produce very large fruit, and as such require a quite large/strong tree before they will make fruit.
Meyer lemon, key lime, some mandarins would be better candidates for your espalier.

What John said. Not that you couldn't, but you would need to take special care in supporting the branches with fruit.Chandler produces fruits almost as big as a basketball. You'd have to have some serious support for the fruits, so they didn't break branches that you might have growing at 90 angles to the trunk (depending on what espalier pattern you've chosen). One of the best citrus cultivars to espalier is the Bearss lime. It tends to naturally produce lateral branches. Meyer lemons tend to be more bush-like, so not really the best choice. Meiwa kumquat also tends to have a more rangy growth pattern, and might also be a pretty choice. I disagree with the article suggesting Nagami. Nagami kumquats tend to want to grow in a compact ball. Meiwas have a much more open, rangy growth habit, and would be very suitable to espaliering. If you want to try espaliering a Chandler, I would contact the author of the article I'm citing, and see what special things they did to espalier a Chandler. I'd actually like to see you do this, I think it might be very interesting. Also, a Chandler can get very large, even on semi-dwarfing rootstock. It's a robust tree. But, that can make it very amendable to espaliering, because you can get rapid results.

It wasn't a case of trying to find a tree to put on the espalier but trying to find a place for the Chandler. I seemed to keep finding cultivars that I didn't have or found a better looking specimen of one I did have. Now I seem to have too many.

I have 2 Meyer Lemons, Bears Lime, Thornless Mexican Lime, and Gold Nugget Mandarin on espaliers on a west facing block wall. 62 citrus, 5 avocado, & a pomegranate.

Interesting Patty's post appeared before mine but wasn't there while I was typing. Thanks for the info, Patty. I will look it over and think about trying it.
