Potting Size In Gritty Mix...Does It Matter?

Hi, everyone,

Just bought a Nagami Kumquat and two Meyer Lemons and have repotted them in the gritty mix, successfully so far. An acquaintance has a large (to me) collection of about 20 citrus plants which she has planted in much bigger pots and regular soil. They all look very healthy and lush. So I'm wondering would it make any difference if it is in a large pot with gritty mix? Would it be too wet for the roots? I always tend to keep the pots on the smaller size. The two smaller Meyer Lemons and another Meyer Lemon which I've had for over 20 years were root pruned and a little top pruned. Thank you in advance for any and all tips and advice. I love browsing on this forum as it is so informative and I learn a lot.

Just thought of another question. Is it alright to use fish emulsion on these plants or neem before I start bringing them indoors? And which one?

Thanks,

Soussan.
