I don't see why not, if you're very careful about it. I would NOT bare root the tree. I would VERY carefully preserve the root ball (as long as your soil around the root ball is sound and not compacted and smelly). Then, back fill with 511 mix. I have done this very successfully without missing a heartbeat (or fruit).

thanks you for your reply. I think my problem was that I bare rooted the trees in order to use the 5-1-1â¦I thought I had to for the 5-1-1. Unfortunately it has led to the demise of many of my plants.

Steve, thank you also for responding and the video. How many citrus plants do you have, and are they all from seeds? Have you had any fruit?

I have all but the Meyer lemon trees from seed.

3 sweetlee tangerines, I gave my 4th one to a friend
2 Nagami kumquats
2 Meyer lemons, I inherited from a friend. They are from cuttings
1 Meiwa kumquat.
3 Poncirus trifoliatas i got for grafting the meiwa kumquat trees onto.
