seeds, grafting, growth and fruit? Kaffir Lime question

Hi there,
I live in the UK and recently bought a Kaffir Lime seedling (around 8" tall grown from seed with around 25 leaves showing). This small seedling is around 7 months old and is now in my charge to keep it healthy and happy throughout a cold Scottish winter.
Obviously, i keep it indoors on the window sill. I feed it weekly with cirtus baby bio and have added perlite to its soil to keep it dry, light and happy.

My question concerns 2 things.
1/ how do i keep it warm over winter.
2/ how do i ensure it will grow and produce fruit as well as leaves - do i need to 'graft' it onto another trees root system to ensure this will happen? (i don't understand this)

a sneeky wee third question - if grafting is indeed necessary, can i make lots of plants out of the one i already have and will they fruit and grow?

I know there are many questions within, but i'm a beginner and i couldn't bare harming this plant.

thanks

Wendy
