possible to re-attach/graft a broken branch?

Hi All,
Last weekend I was doing some work on my deck, and a 2 x 4" fell over and slashed off (to the trunk) a branch of a small very young Meyer Lemon. I felt awful, it was a nice branch with new growth. Instead of throwing it away, I thought I remembered reading that one could super-glue small breaks. What the heck, I experimented with Elmers glue and then closely taped the branch to the trunk, supported it with a BBQ skewer, and moved it out of the direct sun. Almost a week later, it appears to be slowly going downhill. Is there anything that could be done? I didn't take a photo of the break, and now it's covered by the tape. If I leave it, will it hurt the rest of the tree? Any advice would be much appreciated..

it is not possible to reattach a severed limb. It also will not hurt the main tree if you try. If the limb is very small and has no leaves on it you might be able to reattach it. This is called grafting, The more buds there are on the limb the harder time it will have in a successful reattach.

If u graft it u would have to cut it like a graft line and tie bandage it togeather. But as he said depends on how big it is a picture would help. If its a small branch take it off it will grow back if u damaged the trunk really bad u will need to first aid the tree. I would bandage the trunk up to heal the tree better to save tree than kill the tree trying to save the branch.
