waxed Meyer lemons?

Yesterday at Whole Foods I saw "Meyer lemons" that had a smooth shiny skin like an apple. They were about the size of a golf ball and didn't look like any of their other lemons, or my Meyer lemons although the size and general shape were similar. I wondered if they had been heavily waxed to make the skin so smooth and shiny? I've seen Meyer lemons in stores before and they looked like a lemon should look. Johnmerr, have you heard of Meyers being waxed? Or is there some other citrus that has that smooth shiny surface? I wouldn't want a waxed lemon rind grated. I thought maybe they waxed them to make them look "better" than the other cheaper lemons.
