grapefruit yellowing

This tree has been in the ground since may 2012. The first winter here froze in march and the tree lost all leaves and I had to cut it back to a 2 foot stump.

I wanted to make sure the tree hardened off well this year so I stopped fertilizing in early august. I know the yellowing is because it needs fertilizer because it is perfectly healthy when fertilizing. My question is, should I fertilize a small amount to correct the deficiency or is it too late. I don't want the tree to sprout new growth and delay it from hardening off.
