pruning citrus

Patty and Mike asked to see the two other 30 (ish) year old trees I mentioned.They always suffer a bit indoors for the winter and I used to wory every time the lantana lost most of her leaves. She's almost naked by spring, but so far, as you can see, she rallies and blooms all summer til late fall.
As for the subject of my post, the Citrus, I took the bull by the horns and pruned her back. I will post that picture next. I hope I cut back far enough.

Here she is. She's around 30 years old and had one lemon about 15 years ago. I wish I knew what my husband did right that year but he passed away and now my priority is just keeping her alive through the winters.

Citrus bloom and fruit on the new growth each spring. When you prune the tree back, you are cutting off the new growth, thus the tree will not, and can not produce any fruit. If you keep pruning the tree back your tree will never fruit. - S-
