Is there a way to eradicate mealybugs without the chemicals my book suggests? Thank you for your help.

If we had a little more information, we could (probably) offer some helpful advice. How many plants? Can we assume that they are planted in the ground, in your location? How large are the plants? How bad is the infestation?

Fortunately it is on only one orange tree. The Dwarf Mandarin. It is medium to heavy infestation. I went and blew a lot of them off with a hose. The trees are in the ground in my yard. I have 5 different orange trees. I also found a few of them on my pomegranite tree also. |

Will ladybugs touch mealybugs? I have found conflicting information while trying to research this. I have mealybugs one one tree. Nothing seems to get rid of them. Lisa

In SoCal, you're more likely to have woolly whitefly than mealybugs on your outdoor citrus. Unless, that is, you have the mealybug destroyer, the larva of a lady beetle which eats aphids. Can you post pictures?

Lisa, ladybugs are predators of all kinds of small, soft-bodied insects. They will even devour caterpillars before they get to be too large.

I have never heard of wooly whitefly. I'm not sure that is a problem here in Florida. I will go ahead and order some ladybugs and hope that they conquer the problem. I will let you know if it works. Lisa
