Key Lime not producing

Posted by steveb3 9 (My Page) on

I planted a 10 foot key lime 3 years ago and have gotten 4 limes off of it. The tree is growing really well, leaves are dull and a lot of leafminers which I hear you cannot control. When it does get buds they just seem to fall off. What do I need to do to get this tree to produce. I put the citrus tree spikes ( fertilzer) in the ground once a year. Thanks in advance for any help

"When it does has buds they just fall off", tell us something right there.

So in a sense, if the buds stayed on and flowered, you would get fruit right?

Ok..I am not an expert on pests, nor what you have, but many here, especially one I can think of will tell you if it is related.... Could those dreaded leafminers have anthing to do with it? There is always the possiblity that these and or other pests are attacking the base of your buds or sapping the strentgh and vigor from your tree... No?

Something is sapping it's strentgh with dull leaves besides.

I would start from there.

After that, you can look into a watering, soil, or fertilizer issue...

I hope it works out for you..

Mike..;-)
