First lemon!

Finally, my first lemon. And although I should have pulled it off, since the tree barely grew, I am happy to have it. May be a stupid question but how do I tell when it is fully ripe? All traces of green gone from the skin? The cold snuck up on me and I didn't get to acclimate to indoors. I hope the warmer weather lasts a while next week.

Looks like a Meyer; if it is, it is fully ripe; enjoy it.
You could leave it on the tree longer; and it may get more deep yellow color; but the fruit will not be better. If you enjoy it now, the tree can put more energy into new growth. As for the new flowers that are forming, leave them on the tree until they set fruit; then remove all or most of the fruit at the size of BB to pea size. If you remove the flowers now, the tree will only make more; and if you leave too many fruits, the tree will "forget" to grow.

All this advice assumes that your tree is a Meyer.

It is a Meyer. Thanks. There is one other almost full size green lemon and one half size and one quarter size. My tree has definitely forgotten to grow. I am regretting leaving all these on but got impatient. After almost killing my other tree last winter, I am glad to have gotten something.
