Blood Orange tree leaves perking at night only?

Hi all,

first post so I'm hoping someone can help. I live in Palm Springs and recently purchased a 1 year old Moro Blood orange tree. I've planted it in sandy, quick draining soil but have noticed that during the day, the leaves droop slightly but at night they perk up and become relatively strong. The leaves are not curling or turning yellow, they're still a hue of vibrant green-there's been a fair amount of new leaf growth.

I'm not sure what's going on here-am I not watering it enough or too much? I've done the stick test and when I pull the stick up there's no soil sticking to the stick and the stick has barely a hint of moisture on it. In the past month, the weather has cooled down from 90's to high 80's during the day, and dropped to around 58-60 degrees at night.

My watering schedule is about 3 times per week with a soil retaining basin to collect the water. Hope this information can help show where I'm going wrong.
