Actually the graft is more below. I can confirm it is Citrus foliage from the appearance of the young leaves as well. it doesn't have that tri leave foliage that poncirus has.

Congratulations! Just remember that this is the time to prune off branches you don't want growing. Personally, I'd nub off that lower bud just to focus more growth on top.

Maybe not, Tom. I would not make that decision without seeing the entire tree. MIlehigh, check to see if this branch will enhance the tree's canopy and overall balance and look before you remove it. If you tree is very small, I would not prune anything. In order to support fruit production, you need a decent amount of canopy. So, before you whip out the pruners, make sure you have enough canopy to prune :-) Citrus rarely need a lot of pruning. The only time I suggest really early pruning is if a tree as a bunch of adventitious branches emanating from the graft union, which can happen with stressed trees.

Hey guys that branch is going to help balance out the canopy and also as small as the tree is now letting all growth grow would be the right choice for the time being so the tree can acquire enough nodes for fruit production. also i had a quick question is it normal for citrus to drop 1 leaf off from time to time. Mile High.... I keep referring to this from time to time; but no one seems to pick up on it... Since the legalization of recreational marijuana, does not "Mile HIgh" have a new meaning?
As for the dropping of leaves from time to time, it is indeed normal; when the tree is "done" with a leaf, it will drop it. I normally leave the leaves on the tree until the middle rib of the leaf is yellow; at that point the tree has sucked all the nutrients it can from that normally older leaf; and it will come off with only the lightest of pressure.

John, Well yes and no Since the legalization of recreational marijuana i guess mile high no longer has one meaning i guess. But as for me Mile High simply just means living a mile up from sea level. The Mile High City lol and thanks for the advice!
