Yeah, that works as long as the image is already hosted somewhere.

If you have your own photos on your computer, you have to first host them on PhotoBucket or similar site, then copy the URL and paste them into your message.

Yes, I agree, it is really tedious and backwards, plus it discourages spontaneity and at times, meaningful posting, especially where you are trying to use multiple photos for identification, for example. If you post in multiple messages, the message gets moved down as if someone had already responded to it.

Since this is a thread about photos maybe someone could tell me why so many photos on Gardenweb are sideways?

Photos on Photobucket or FlickR are free, so just set up an account. When you want to post more than one photo, just follow their easy directions. For Photobucket one click does an automatic "copy" for me. Easy peasy. Open a second tab (or window) to go back and forth between the forum and your photo hosting website. You paste that copied HTML into your message, hit your enter key a couple times, to put a space between the pics, and go back get another photo, etc. I don't think there is a limit (?)

What you see when you click "preview" is what others will see...normally, but I've heard that some I Pad users say it was upright when they saw it on their screen, sooooo....

Those sideways shots are coming from tablets. If you put the photo button on the right side when you take the pic, you should be golden. For me running with Chrome, I just click on the sideways photo and it shows up properly.

IT does get annoying after awhile and I hope Garden Web corrects that.

PS : I have grown some citrus in the past, Bearss Limes, Meyer Lemons, Satsuma tangerines so don't get unhappy with me for busting in here. Garden Web seems to be inviting that sort of thing by the column on the right side that shows the most recent posts, but doesn't show you which forum they are from Pooh..

Steve, as Babka says, if you create an account in Photobucket, it is very easy to upload pictures and, once uploaded, to link them in GW forum.

See the below image, this is what appears on the right of the screen when you are viewing your pictures in Photobucket.
If you click on "HTML" it automatically copies the link of your pictures for inserting in your GW post, you only have to paste it in.
Don give up! It is a bit tedious but it's easy! :-)

I do have a Photobucket account but I keep running out of band width. Photobucket put in an image that states that I am popular and need to upgrade. I really don't want to upgrade as I don't even look at my own pictures.

I have a Google+ account and I would like to link them to the GW threads. If anyone knows how to do that, I am interested.

Steve- I only put photos in Photobucket that I want to post on forums, and I delete some of those after awhile to keep my bandwidth usage very low. All the gigabytes of other photos I take and share with friends and family I keep on my computer, backed up on a external hard drive and also (just in case) on DVD disks. Once you put photos up on some of these free websites, you are giving them permission to use them. I have discovered some of mine showing up elsewhere on the internet.

Google+ got a little scary for me so I deleted that too. When I joined it I put in my birthday, and wouldn't you know, when the big day came and I turned on my computer, the Google Doodle was full of cupcakes and when I passed my cursor over them it said "Happy Birthday (my name here)". Of course it was just appearing on MY computer, no one elses, but to me that is spooky. When I used my Nexus tablet out of town it knew where my rental car was parked in the hotel lot. And it was turned off and still in airplane mode until I got to my room. Big Brother?????

Me to. I only put pictures to be shared around the world on any of these web hosting sites. I to use DVD's and extra computer to hold pictures of personal interest. I should clean out my Photobucket garbage.

Wow, that is quite a set up. We just grow them outside here and put the extra fruit in a box at the curb with a a "free" sign on them. No excuse for scurvy here in California. ;-)

I have successfully posted a link to my slideshow in picassa web albums.. Just right click on the little icon "lower left" and then click on "open image in new tab". Once the album opens you with have a choice of display speed and play. Enjoy
