First container effort

Here is a photo of my first Meyer container effort; sort of a tour de force to see if I can do it; and maybe develop a little empathy for container growers. It is a 12 inch pot and the tree is one year old. Of course I still have Eternal Springtime weather and black volcanic soil mixed with compost and full of earthworms... sorry it was all I had to work with.

Also a photo of its neighbor, a native poinsettia in the neighbor's garden. Yes, they do grow wild here; and flower at Christmas time. Guatemala is the home of the Poinsettia, here called Pascua; we grow and export more than 70% of the world's supply and something near 90% of the potted poinsettias sold in the USA. FYI, it is a California company, Paul Ecke.
