WANTED: Clematis not climbing

I planted clematis in the fall of 2005 on the outside of my screened in porch. I can't get it to cling to the screen. I don't really want to put up a trellis on the outside of the screen. Any suggestions? I thought about wrapping it around some fishing line or string, and attaching the string to the top of the roof of the porch, and hope it would cling to that. THANK YOU

Clematis leaves wrap around supports so they need something to wrap around.

There are some varieties that don't do this at all and have to be tied up.

I used craft wire and eye hooks they seem to cling to the wire very well.
