Please advise

I have 2 Miss Batemans I bought last summer but didn't get around to planting. They are both in one-gallon pots. One has a 2 1/2-foot stem with buds leafing out at each node and three new separate stems emerging from the ground; the other has 3 woody stems of varying length with leaves emerging and 2 new stems emerging from the ground. Should I plant these lower than they are in the pot, as advised for planting new clematis--or assume that they were planted deep in the pot to begin with? Each has a Donahue's identifying tag.

Also--should I prune these to 12-18 inches after planting?

Thanks in advance. I have very little experience with clematis and want to learn!
