How many clematis to plant with roses?

Hi all you clematis experts from a new forum member. I am in the western NC mountains in a new cabin, and have created a large bed adjacent to a split rail fence that is over 50 feet long. I plan to plant 5 climbing roses in shades of light to dark pinks along this fence and want to add clematis, which I have never grown before. I have selected Jackmanii, Huldine, and Prince Charles; but would like to ask how many I should get? One for each rose? Two? And should I plant them right next to each rose, or in between? Thanks for your advice---I have read a lot of helpful info on these GardenWeb forums, but just signed up.
