It's three years old and was part of a trio from a clematis "grab bag" from Spring Hill Nursery. I can't find the tags now, the other two didn't make it. One was "Mrs.Cholmondeley", but I know this isn't it. I think the other two were "Warsaw Nike" and "Spirit of Poland". I'm thinking "Warsaw Nike", how about you? Also prune 2/3?

Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert, but it looks to me like a dark Niobe Clematis

RE: ID please.

I'm thinking 'Warsaw Nike' as well :-) - 'Polish Spirit' doesn't have that prominent boss of white stamens. Hard prune - Group 3.

Here is a link that might be useful: 'Warsaw Nike'

RE: ID please.

I agree. 'Warsaw Nike' !

'Polish Spirit' doesn't have a red tint to the purple.

RE: ID please.

Polish Spirit also has highly colored anthers which yours does not so I agree that it is Warsaw Nike which is a pruning group III.

RE: Polish Spirit

In the following picture, Polish Spirit is the top flower. Note the colored anthers which yours does not have.

Thanks! You guys are great. Tomorrow I'll hard prune and post a follow-up picture when it's looking swell!
