growing clematis on south facing brick wall

I need to move polish spirit to a new location. Currently it is growing threw a large shrub rose.It never grows tall enough or blooms in this spot. I have a south facing brick wall where I could plant it but perhaps it might be too hot. Any thoughts would be appreciated, I know nothing about clematis.

I think in our zone as long as a viticella like PS has adequate moisture, it will be fine. The ideal time to have moved it would have been in the fall, but if you're going to move it, do it as soon as possible while it's still cool and rainy.

Ditto what Michael said... Especially giving it adequate moisture.

Well maybe I'll leave it till the fall. Its extremely hot and dry in that bed. I have some other spots I could use. Thanx for the info. Greatly appreciated.
