A few years ago, I was talking to a friend of mine, a gardener, about how to keep my c. Montana 'Freda' in-bounds in my tiny city garden. He told me that he pruned his back down to a foot or two after flowering each May.

Ever since then, that's how I've treated my C. Montanas. The photo here was taken this morning. I plan to do the same with my new c. Macropetala 'blue bird'.

Have any of you treated your type 1's the same on an ongoing basis?
