some kind of larva on clematis

I don't know what kind of clematis I have, it is in full, lush bud right now, I think it might be Belle of Woking.

Anyway, I just went out to look at it and noticed that a lot of leaves and buds are diseased/discolored, some are folded over. When I unfolded a leaf I saw a tiny larva, black with a ball-shaped head, maybe 1 cm long. The entire full vine seems to be infested. Can I treat it? How?
