I have multiple fuzzy growths on the top of my clematis, which is growing on a trellis at the front of my house.  Can anyone tell me what it is, if it's harmful to the plant and how to get rid of it?  Thanks in advance for your help!

| Looks like last year's stems with seed pods. |

| Yes, those are dead stems from last year with seed heads. Won't hurt at all to remove and will look much nicer.... |
