Without training Niobe does not climb the netting like she would wire...really need to replace the netting with wire grid. She is flopping two feet off the fence.

Buyorsell, I know where you're coming from, I was laid up for most of last year and the first 3 months of this year. Some of my clemies are a complete tangled mess, I'm thinking as soon as they've finished blooming I'm going to severely cut them back and keep my fingers crossed. Are you going to do the same, it looks like you have some strong healthy plants there, how far will you cut them back?

I didn't cut a couple of mine back and they are a tangled mess but loaded with buds and bloom. Not as big and loaded as yours but I am happy with them. lol I will cut back after their bloom. They are group 2's that I didn't cut back yet. I do have group 3's and I did cut those but wanted to have the blooms on the 2's.

Buyorsell, I feel your pain, I had shoulder surgery a few years ago, and it took forever to get full strength back in my hand, it is still painful. My 87 year old mother can no longer prune her 15 + roses, fortunately my niece does it for her in time.
I did prune all of mine back in February, but we had a very strange spring, and all of my group three have no leaves on the bottom 2', and huge clumps of leaves and blooms at the top of the trellis, looks very messy. But if you just look up at the blooms you don't notice the ugly stems on the ground.
