Pinching Baby Clematis

The clematis I got from Silver Star keep trying to form flowers. The vines are very nice, with a minimum of four from each plant, but they are very short still, so I keep pinching off little blooms.

I'd love to have flowers, but I would rather have nice healthy plants for the future. This is the correct thing to do with these young ones, isn't it?

Not necessarily, she sends much bigger plants with more vines than most mail orders. You can let them bloom.

Most mail order plants have one vine.
