Young clematis yellow on bottom

This is a very young clematis I purchased last year. It has 2 blooms (I didn't have the heart to cut them off). But some leaves are a little yellow on the bottom. Is this "normal?"

Would you trim it by half after the blooming finishes?

Your clematis "Nelly Moser" is very pretty...yellowing leaves can be too much water or if they have yellow streaks in the leaves can be lack of Magnesium..Magnesium is easy to rectify by mixing 2 tbs. of Epsom Salts with a pint of water and pour around the clematis and water in well...Jeanne

It has been a fairly rainy Spring. I have Epsom Salts and will give them a try, thank you.
