Oops... maybe too much roundup help!!!!

I'm a bit of a newbie with the gardening stuff so this is definitely my fault. Did a bunch of landscaping last year and got rid of some snow on the mountain to make way for some nice mulch and maybe some decorative grasses. Tried digging it up at first (not fun) and at the suggestion of the landscaper I later used round up to knock it out.

There is a clematis on a trellis in the same area. I protected it from overspray using a piece of cardboard, but I believe the Round-up got into the soil. Late last summer the clematis suddenly withered badly. But it came back strong this spring with a new shoot and has been filling out nicely. Last week though, it suddenly turned yellow and appears to have halted growth. I'm thinking i ruined the soil and will have to replace it(the soil), but don't want to lose the clematis.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
